Catnip & Bell Cat Toy

This pattern is very similar to the basic knitted ball/ornament, except it uses much smaller needles.

The small knit ensures that no catnip can come out, or you can simply stuff it with fiberfill.

I used size US 2, 2.75mm needles.

Cast on 8 stitches to a single DPN and divide amongst 4 needles. You will have 2 stitches per needle.

Row 1 - Join the round. Knit 1 stitch, then add a place marker so you know which needle begins the round. Knit remainder of row 1.

Row 2 - knit 1 make 1 for every stitch. You will now have 4 stitches on each needle for a total of 16 stitches.

Row 3 - knit row

Row 4 - knit row

Row 5 - knit 1make 1 for every stitch. You will now have 8 stitches on each needle for a total of 32 stitches

Rows 6 - 15 - knit rows

Row 16 - Knit every 2 stitches together. You will now have 4 stitches on each needle for a total of 16 stitches

Row 17 - knit row

Row 18 - knit row and fill with fiber fill, catnip, or whatever you want.

Row 19 - knit every 2 stitches together. You will now have 2 stitches on each needle for a total of 8 stitches.

Run a needle through the remaining stitches adding a bell, making loops, or doing other cool-cat things.
