Original Pattern: http://itsastringthing.wordpress.com/2010/09/21/simple-knit-ball/

Cast 8 stitches onto a single double pointed needle. I used size 8 needles and a christmas print of "I love this yarn" at hobby lobby.

Transfer 2 stitches to another double pointed knitting needle from side opposite the tail and working yarn

Transfer next 2 stitches to a third double pointed knitting needle from the side opposite the tail and working yarn.

transfer the next 2 stitches onto a 4th double pointed knitting needle from the side opposite the tail and working yarn

Using a 5th needle, join in the round. Knit 1 stitch and place a marker so you know where needle 1 is. Knit the remainder of row 1.

For row 2, knit a stitch, then make a stitch all the way around. You will now have 4 stitches per needle, for a total of 16 stitches.
