Needles: Size US6, 4.0mm, qty 4
Yarn: I Love This Yarn, Antique White, Medium 4

Body (Worked from Head to feet)  - Make 1

Cast 12 stitches onto a single DPN using Knitted Cast On Method, leaving about a 12" tail.

Divide stitches evenly amongst 3 needles. You will have 4 stitches per needle.

Join in the round being careful not to twist the work.

Row 1 - Knit entire row. You may want to put a marker after the first stitch so you know where needle 1 is.

Row 2 - kfb, k2, kfb on each needle. 6 sts / needle, 18 sts total.

Row 3 - kfb, k4, kfb on each needle. 8 sts / needle, 24 sts total.

Rows 4-5 - Knit entire row.

Row 6 - kfb, k6, kfb on each needle. 10 sts/needle, 30 sts total.

Rows 7-13 - Knit entire row.

Row 14 - k3, k2tog, k3, k2tog on each needle. 8 sts/needle, 24 sts total

Rows 15-17 - Knit entire row.

Row 18 - k2, k2tog, k2, k2tog on each needle. 6 sts/needle, 18 sts total

Rows 19-20 - Knit entire row.

Row 21 - k1, k2tog, k1, k2tog on each needle. Remove any markers that you may have. 4 sts/needle, 12 sts total

Cut the working yarn leaving about a 12" tail.

Thread the yarn onto a needle and run the needle through all remaining stitches. Drop the needle through the middle of the work and weave in/tie off on the inside. I find the easiest way to do this is to just turn the work inside out. This is the feet side.

Stuff the body with fiberfill from the head.

Thread the original cast on tail onto a needle. Thread the needle through the original 12 cast on stitches, then pull tightly to cinche shut.

Run the needle under the opening a few times to secure, then tie off/weave in. This is the head side.

Head - Make 1

Row 7 - kfb, k8, kfb on each needle. 12 sts/needle, 36 sts total.

Rows 8-16 - Knit entire row.

Rows 18-19 - Knit entire row

Row 20 - k3, k2tog, k3, k2tog each needle. 8 sts/needle. 24 sts total

Row 21 - k2, k2tog, k2, k2tog each needle. 6 sts/needle, 18 total

Row 22 - k2tog entire row. 3 sts/needle, 12 total.

Row 23 - knit entire row

Thread the yarn onto a needle and run the needle through all remaining stitches. Drop the needle through the middle of the work and weave in/tie off on the inside. I find the easiest way to do this is to just turn the work inside out.

Stuff the head with fiberfill.

Thread the original cast on tail onto a needle. Thread the needle through the original 12 cast on stitches, then pull tightly to cinche shut. Run the needle under the opening a few times to secure, then tie off/weave in.

Ears - Make 2

Cast 6 stitches on a DPN using the cable cast on method. Leave about a 12" tail.

Row 1 - Knit entire row

Row 2 - Purl entire row

Row 3 - Knit entire row

Row 4 - Purl entire row

Row 5 - ssk, k2, k2tog. You will now have 4sts total

Row 6 - p2tog, p2tog. You will now have 2sts total

Row 7 - k2tog. You will now have 1 sts total.

Cut the working yarn leaving about a 12" tail. Thread the tail onto a needle and run through remaning stitch. Remove needle but DO NOT cut tail.

Thread original cast on tail onto needle. Run the thread down to the purl side so that both tails are on the pointy side of the ear.

Find the most uniform side of the head. The head is 'side ways' and lemon shaped. Make the most uniform side of the head the face. Run both tails of the ear (pointy side against the head) all the way through the stuffing and out the bottom side of the head near the neck. Tie off/weave in yarn.

If the ears don't seem secure enough, you can use additional yarn to whipstitch it to the body. Feed the tails down to the bottom/neck area of the head. weave in/tie off

The ears will naturally curl down due to knit stitch curling, so if they seem a bit too 'long' that's ok.

Using your tapestry needles, figure out about where you want the eyes. I ended up looping orange yarn around a 2 knit x 2 knit area. Feed the yarn tails to the bottom of the head/neck area. You can alternatively use orange buttons or anything else you want here.

Using black thread, stitch on a happy face. Don't worry about messing it up. If you don't like it you can always pull out the black yarn and start over. Leave about a 12" tail on both sides and feed down through the middle of the head to the neck area. Make a knot but do not snip the ends.

Thread both black ends onto a needle and run it through the center of the body. This will attach the body to the head.

Cut another 12" section of white yarn and thread onto a needle. Run one end directly through the top of the head down to the very bottom of the body. Weave the other end through a few stitches then through the head down to the bottom of the body. Pull firmly. This will give the head that smooshed lemon look. Tie the ends and cut off at the bottom of the body.

The nice thing about attaching the head and the body with strings down the middle is that it makes the body and head able to twist independently of each other if you want to make fun toys for it!

Arms

Cast on 6 stitches and divide evenly amongst 3 needles. Join in the Round

Row 1 - kfb, 1 each needle. You will now have 9 stitches.

Rows 2-8 - Knit entire row.

Stuff the arm with a small amount of fiber fill.

Row 9 - k2tog, k1, each needle. You will now have 6 stitches.

Cut the working yarn leaving a 12" tail and thread onto a needle. Run the needle through the middle of the arm and down to the other side, cinching it shut. Make a few stitches to secure the other side. Run the needle back up to the top and cut the yarn so that the excess ends up on the inside.

Stitch the arm onto the body using the original cast on yarn. Weave in and run the needle through to the other side of the body and cut the yarn so that the excess ends up on the inside.

Cast 9 stitches on a single DPN and then divide stitches equally on 3 DPNs. You will have 3 stitches per DPN. Join in the round, being careful not to twist the work.

Rows 1-3 - Knit.

Thread the original cast on yarn onto a needle and through the original stitches.  Drop through middle of work (Knit stitches on outside). Cinche shut and tie off on the inside.

Cut working yarn, leaving a 12" tail. Thread tail onto needle and run through remaining stitches. Remove DPNs and stick your fingertip into the little leg. Pull the yarn, cinching it around your finger to shape the leg. Stuff with fiberfill. Cinche shut. Make a few stitches to secure the opening and then tie off.

Tail

Cast 8 stitches on a DPN using cable cast on method.
Cast off.

Knot the two ends together and twist the tail into a corkscrew shape.

Thread both ends onto a needle and attach to the pig's body. Weave in or tie off on the inside.
