US 7 Circular Knitting Needle
Cast on 15 stitches (I like the knitted cast on method) and place a unique stitch marker. (unique stitch marker will be the end of the row once you create the little hanging loop)
Cast on 44 stitches and place a stitch marker
Cast on 44 stitches and place a stitch marker
Cast on 44 stitches and place a stitch marker
Cast on 44 stitches
You will have 191 cast on stitches total
Join in the round and knit the first stitch, then immediately bind off the stitch. Put a safety pin on the stitch you just bound off, as you will need to find it again here shortly
Knit and bind off the next 14 stitches. (up to the marker)
You will have 1 stitch on the right needle. Slip it over to the left needle
With the left needle pickup the BACK stitch of the first bound off stitch that you put a safety pin on. Remove the safety pin as well
You will now have two stitches on the left needle. K2Tog.
You will have 176 stitches.
Knit to the end of the row
Round 1: Purl
Round 2: SSK, Knit to 2 stitches before the stitch marker, 2ktog. Slip the stitch marker from the left needle to the right. Repeat 4 times to the end of the round. Round decreases the stitches by 8 (168 stitches)
Repeat Rounds 1 and 2 until there are 8 stitches left. Drop to a smaller small circular knititng needle or dpns as needed.
